 Traci Howard

Assistant Dean for Admissions
Dean Howard has directed California Western’s Admissions department since 2001. Prior to joining the Admissions team, she was a staple in the Student and Diversity Services department, where she focused on diversity recruiting and retention. Before moving to San Diego from Nebraska, Dean Howard spent several years working at the undergraduate level in Admissions, Student Affairs, and Minority Affairs. Howard attends more than a dozen law fairs around the country each year, is active within the Law School Admissions Council – speaking on panels and presenting workshops – and has counseled hundreds of students on the law school application process, personal statements, and preparing for law school. She has also presented at the Association of American Law Schools annual conference and at numerous Law School Admission Council annual meetings. Dean Howard is currently serving as Chair of the LSAC Diversity Committee (2009-2011) and as an ex officio member of the Academic Assistance Topical Workshops 2010 Subcommittee; College Diversity Directors Conference Planning Work Group; Diversity Fund Grants Subcommittee; Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues Subcommittee; Pipeline Models Conference Planning Committee; PLUS Subcommittee; and the Academic Assistance Assessment Website Advisory Group.

 Jean Whalen

Associate Director, Admissions
Jean Whalen joined California Western in 1987 and spent a year in the Alumni Department before moving to Admissions in 1988. As associate director, she counsels prospective applicants and admitted students and assists with recruitment. A San Diego native, she received her B.A. from San Diego State University and her M.L.S. from the University of Michigan. After living for a year in France, she worked at Ohio State University and at the University at Albany before returning home to San Diego. |

 Shawnessy Westcott

Assistant Director, Admissions
Shawnessy Westcott came to California Western in 2006, serving the Admissions office as counselor and housing coordinator. Westcott helps prospective students explore their interest in California Western by arranging class visits and campus tours and meeting with students one-on-one to discuss the application process. Additionally, she provides admitted students with resources to facilitate their housing search, from managing a database of local vacancies and students seeking roommates, to discussing the unique aspects of San Diego’s neighborhoods. Prior to joining the California Western team, Westcott worked as an admissions advisor and recruiter at the University of Washington, Tacoma, where she earned a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. Shawnessy also holds a M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University.

 Audrey Vasquez

Assistant Director, Admissions
Audrey Vasquez began her career at California Western in 2003 where she worked in Student and Diversity Services. In 2005 she joined the Admissions team where she is now assistant director of admissions. Audrey's focus includes counseling and advising prospective law students, developing and arranging events for prospective applicants and managing the admissions database system. She also represents the law school at recruiting events across the country and meets one-on-one with prospective students who are visiting campus. Audrey received her B.S. degree in Public Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills. |

 Susan O’Dean-Sekeres

Admissions Assistant
The other welcoming voice and great smile students encounter in Admissions belongs to Susan O’Dean-Sekeres. She was born in London and has also lived in South America and Germany. She moved to to San Diego in 2001 and joined the Admissions staff at California Western in 2002. O’Dean-Sekeres is responsible for processing incoming applications, arranging campus tours, and answering phone queries from prospective students. She also assists as housing coordinator as needed.

 Tony Duldulao

Admissions Assistant
Tony Duldulao began working at California Western in July of 2009.In January 2010, he joined the Admissions team as the Admissions Assistant. Tony is the first voice people hear when they call the office. He is also responsible for processing mail, applications, mailing out materials to prospective applicants and answering questions from callers and visitors to the office. Tony, who grew up in American Samoa, moved to San Diego in 1998. In American Samoa, he worked for Chicken of the Sea as the Inventory Manager and then later transferred to the corporate headquarters, in San Diego, where he was the Marketing Operations Manager. After nearly 10 years, Tony moved on to begin working at the corporate headquarters of Jack in the Box, in the Facilities Management department. Tony earned his B.A. from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, majoring in International Relations and Politics. He also received his MBA in International Business from Saint Joseph’s University. |
